From the Hotel to the University
Please note that the LSP 2009 coach will transport participants from Hotels Olympic, Atrion and Kastro to the campus on Saturday at 8.30 am. After the conference, on Saturday, at 6.45, the coach will take participants back to the Hotels.
On Sunday, transportation is only provided to participants who will take the Guided Tour. The coach will take participants from the Hotels (8.00) to the Knossos antiquities and back to the campus (10.00).
Kindly note that the conference desk administrator will check on arrival whether you wish to take the tour.
Payment can only be made at the desk on the day.
Public Transport to the University is available from any central city road every 20 minutes. Taxi fare should range from 6€ to 8€ from the city center. Look for the buses signposted as “Panepistimio” (“University”) or “I.T.E.” (translated it stands for Foundation for Research and Technology). They both take you to the UOC Campus in Voutes.
Travelling to Heraklion
Heraklion can be reached from the mainland Greece by air with direct flights from Athens in approximately 40min or from Thessaloníki in approximately 50min. A number of flights are offered daily by Olympic Airways and Aegean Airlines (online booking available) or Sky Express. Direct charter flights from various European cities are also available.
One can also reach Heraklion by sea from Athens or Thessaloníki daily, in approximately 7hrs and 14hrs, respectively. Minoan or ANEK Ferries are the companies that provide this service.
From the Airport to the Hotel
Public Transport is available every twenty minutes. The Blue Bus ticket costs 95 cents. There is also a taxi rank right outside the Arrivals Hall. The fare to the city centre should cost no more than 8€, and 12€ for the campus.
